Welcome to linley

... an organic, radical traditional, mixed farm and market garden situated in the beautiful South Shropshire hills. At Linley, our mission is clear: enhance soil health, boost biodiversity, and secure the long-term vitality of our farm and the people who work within it.

The landscape at Linley is very diverse from moorland at 452 metres on the top of Heath Mynd, down through permanent pastures, 1950’s plantation forestry and ancient woodlands, listed parkland and meadows, to herbal leys, arable fields, orchards, ponds, lakes and scrapes out to the south with the West Onny river running through it all.

Our aim is to have nature in abundance, improve the quality of the West Onny river that runs though the land. To have vibrating soils that sequester more carbon. Have happy healthy pasture fed livestock and to grow nutrient dense crops and vegetables.

On our south facing 3-acre walled market garden we grow vegetables, herbs, and flowers, using no-dig principles and biodynamic preparations, which supply our pub, The Bridges, local markets and London restaurants.

Linley is managed holistically in a virtuous circle to enhance the soil. Producing food that is good for nature, good for us and good for the soil.  On the farm the livestock and arable are in a closed loop rotation. We raise high welfare, pasture fed beef and sheep and grow heritage grains for shipton mill.

The forestry is managed with continuous cover which creates a tapestry of habitats for wildlife and protects the soil of the forest floor.  With the dung of the animals, the straw from the arable and the brush from the forestry we make compost to feed the soil across the whole estate.

“The health of soil, plant, animal and man is one and indivisible”  ~ Albert Howard
